San Diego: SWAT Incident 05052024

Officers responded to a resident telling 911 dispatchers that several bullets were fired into their house. The officers arrived and found shell casings in the street (Westonhill Dr), and as they were investigating, several more shots were fired from a house at Belfast Ct & Westonhill Dr. A large Police response has arrived, and streets are blocked off. No one has been injured at this time.

UPDATE: 6:00 am

A male called the suicide hotline phone from the house. The dispatcher said that the male stated he was going to kill himself, and a gunshot was heard.

UPDATE: 6:45 am

The SWAT team was called in because, at the time, this incident was thought to be a possible murder/suicide. Two other people should be living in the house with the suspect. The SWAT team arrived, and shortly after that, the suspect fired three more rounds.

UPDATE: 7:30 am

The SWAT is in position, and they have fired non-lethal projectiles at the security cameras on the house to disable them. As of 9:00 am, the SWAT team believes that the male is by himself and there are no other victims.

UPDATE: 9:00 am

A second SWAT Bearcat arrived and used a battering ram to smash the front security door in the front of the house. We were moved back to a point where we couldn't see anything due to the dangerous conditions.

The SWAT team was able to take the suspect nto custody.
